Abandonment

That expression etched into my eyes,
Every time I see it a small piece dies.
It's the look of disappointment and fear,
It tells me I shouldn't be here.
I'm not welcome here anymore,
My footprints are shadows on the floor.
You can't bring myself to look at me,
In this forest I'm a single tree.
Insignificant and worthless,
Alone without purpose.
